There are miles of sandy beaches to be enjoyed within a short drive of Mas Vel Roure, including Argeles, Canet and the second largest leisure port in France at St Cyprien.  The picturesque old fishing port of Collioure frequented by artists such as Manet, Picasso and Maillol is also less than 20 mins away.  

Villelongue-dels-Monts  is a great base for exploring the region's heritage, Romanesque churches, Abbeys and Cathar castles, and there are many interesting walks to be discovered at the base of the Pyrenees.

Perpignan (25 mins drive) is a lively cosmopolitan city, where you can enjoy a drink along the café lined Rive Gauche, wander through the maze of boutique-lined back streets or enjoy a meal in one of the many excellent restaurants. During the months of July and August there are ‘Perpignan Jeudis' – Where you can wander throughout the old part of town listening to music outside the cafes, the impromptu bands in the squares, joining in the dancing and entertainment all in the warm summer evenings until late.

For art lovers there is the Musee d’Art Moderne at Ceret and the Salvador Dali Museum at Figueres. In less than 2 hours drive, you can visit Carcassonne, Andorra, Barcelona, Cadaques, Montpelier and in under an hour be in the centre of the famous Food Market at Narbonne on the banks of the Canal du Midi.

The Languedoc Roussillion is one of the largest wine producing regions in the world and many of the local vineyards offer wine tasting and tours.
